Mythical race for every cyclist, the PBP requires a lot of preparation to enjoy 1,200 km of happiness.
This is the upcoming edition, with participation in Brevets de Randonneurs Mondiaux in 2022 allowing for pre-registration for the following year's race.
Paris-Brest-Paris is a unique bicycle ride, part of the major long-distance cycling events in France and placed under the aegis of the FFCT. It is not an ultra-endurance race, despite the trend of beautiful events like the Transcontinental Race and others. It connects Paris to Brest in both directions, covering a distance of 1,200 km.
1,200 km by bike means covering 8 times 150 km in less than 90 hours. This major cycling event is listed on the calendar of cycling tours and takes place during the last week of August. This non-timed and non-ranked cycling ride is not a race.
The previous edition took place in 2019, and the next one will be held in August 2023, four years later.
Preparing for PBP's 1,200 km requires completing qualifying rides, and the organizer, the Audax Club Parisien, requires it.

At the end of these brevets, the randonneur receives the Super Randonneur medal. These brevets are organized in different regions of France or foreign countries, but are centralized by the ACP.
After 3,000 participants in 2003, over 5,000 in 2007, a pre-registration system was implemented for PBP 2011, also in 2015 and 2019, where the number of participants exploded beyond 7,000 cyclists. The pre-registration consists of giving priority to cyclists who have completed a Brevet de Randonneurs Mondiaux the year before the event, and then confirming their registration through qualifying patents in the year of the event.
Pre-registration : Successfully completing a BRM of 200, 300, 400, 600, or 1,000 km in 2022 allows for pre-registration for PBP and the ability to choose one's departure time. Many questions arise regarding the pre-registration process as hikers apply. About 1,000 hikers regularly do not complete their registration process, leaving spots available for those who have not yet been able to register due to not having validated a BRM the previous year or wishing to change their departure time.
Qualification: The BRMs of 2023 allow for qualification to participate in PBP 2023.
One Step Higher
With the new sports facility that is the National Velodrome of Saint-Quentin, Paris-Brest-Paris takes a new start and brings modernity to the heart of the legend.
This new impetus provides a prestigious setting for a world-class event. France loves to showcase the jewels that make it France, and Paris-Brest-Paris lends itself well to this demonstration. The velodrome is only a short distance from the Gymnasium of Human Rights, so there is little change at the start and finish for riders accustomed to PBP, whether they come from France or abroad.

Paris Brest plays the ecological card with sheep as spectators. The organization has changed the starting location, and the estate is undoubtedly suitable for this sporting event. It is close to the cycling routes that riders appreciate, leaving behind city outings. It shows foreigners that the countryside is within reach of Paris, less than 50 km away. Rambouillet and its national estate are the starting and finishing site. It is here that bike checks take place and riders are welcomed after their journey.
